Privacy Policy
Plate is built so that the files you work with never have to leave your device. This page explains exactly what that means in practice, what the few exceptions are, and what changes if this site starts showing ads.
The short version: your PDF is processed entirely inside your browser. It is never uploaded, stored, or transmitted to any server we operate — not for editing, merging, splitting, signing, cleanup, or exporting to Word. There are no exceptions.
Information we collect
We do not operate a server that receives, stores, or logs the documents you open in Plate. There is no account system, no file upload, and no database of user content. Opening, editing, merging, and exporting a PDF all happen locally in your browser's memory and are discarded when you close the tab, unless you explicitly click Download.
The cleanup feature
The one-click cleanup that fixes typos, spacing and capitalisation runs entirely in your browser using a built-in dictionary and rule set. No text is sent anywhere — not to us, and not to any third-party service.
Third-party services this site loads
To render and edit PDFs in your browser, Plate loads a small number of open-source libraries and fonts from public content delivery networks. Loading these may expose your IP address and basic request metadata to those providers, the same way it would for any website that uses a CDN or web font:
- pdf.js, pdf-lib, fontkit, JSZip, SortableJS, and docx.js — served via cdnjs and jsDelivr, used to render, edit, and export PDF and Word files
- Google Fonts — used for the typefaces on this page and inside the editor
- Google Fonts (dynamic) — the editor's font-matching feature may request a specific web font mid-edit when you're writing in a script like Arabic, Hindi, or Chinese, so that the correct characters render properly
Cookies and advertising
This site does not currently set its own cookies or run analytics. If Plate begins showing advertising through Google AdSense in the future, this section will apply:
Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on this site. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet. You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. Children's privacy
Plate is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes to this policy
If how this site handles data changes — most likely by adding advertising or analytics — this page will be updated and the date at the top will change accordingly.
